The British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) is carrying out a survey of English farm woodland birds between 15th March to 15th July 2019. The census will involve surveyors visiting farm woodland plots on four mornings between these dates, and recording all birds present. The number of territories present will then be determined. Agroforestry Innovation Networks (AFINET) is a 3-year European project promoting innovation in agroforestry through the sharing of practical experience and existing research knowledge. AFINET
The Committee on Climate Change published its report, Land Use: Reducing Emissions and Preparing for Climate Change, in November 2018. The report calls for the planting of 5,000-10,000 ha of silvoarable agroforestry and 7,500-15,000 ha of silvopastoral agroforestry across the UK annually. Read the report

The Woodchip for Fertile Soils (WOOFS) project, funded by the European Innovation Partnership and led by the Organic Research Centre, commenced on 1st September 2017. The project aims to investiigate the use of woodchip in improving soil health and structure. Further details
As of 4th September 2018, the Forestry Commission has confirmed that ash dieback is present in 19.9% of all 10 km grid squares in Scotland, 68.0% of the squares in England, 80% of the squares in Wales and 32.3% of the squares in Northern Ireland. Forestry Commission
