Silvopastoral Agroforestry Toolbox

Silvopastoral Agroforestry Toolbox logo and link to the external web site The Farm Woodland Forum and the Macaulay Institute (now the James Hutton Institute) launched the Silvopastoral Agroforestry Toolbox Website in 2002.

A one-stop shop for farmers, their advisers and others interested in introducing trees onto livestock farms. The web site provides information on the benefits of silvopastoral agroforestry and, for those who may wish to take plant trees, it provides information on how to set up and manage a silvopastoral system. A CD-ROM version of the Toolbox is also available, log onto the website and fill in the form to get a copy.

Note: the external link to the Silvopastoral Agroforestry Toolbox Website will open a new window.

Since the toolbox was produced the economic climate has changed, so any economic analyses included should be recalculated based on current values.  However, production data still fit our current understanding of tree/grass/livestock interactions.

Hugh Williams of the National Forest Company has produced a toolkit to  help plan and plant farm woodlands, based on experience in the National Forest (Create a Farm Woodland. A Toolkit to Help You Plan and Plant).
